I have a little weakness for bowls, just had to admit it. So just had to buy this little cute one, I also felt like I needed to get a reason to make myself a desert.
I ended up doing a vanilla custard with strawberry jam and an Italian meringue, served hot. Custard might not sound like the most simple thing to make, and I agree it’s not the quickest dessert but once you get the hang of it, it’s really not that bad. Like this time I was pretty much just improvising the whole thing (I have done custard a numerous times before though).

I cut down a lot of sugar this time and substituted it with some sweetener, which resulted in a less stable and dense meringue, not as delish but still really really good.
Since I don’t have a burner I placed the whole thing in the very top of the oven go get a nice burns touch .

If you let the custard cool down (and don’t put it in the oven) it will become more solid but I liked mine hot and gooey.
Recipe:
Custard:
2,5 dl Milk
1 tsp vanilla sugar (Thats what I had at home but I always prefer real vanilla)
2 Egg yolks
0,5 dl Sugar
1/4 dl Corn flor (normal flour works as well)
A little bit butter
Berry Jam:
Frozen berries
Vanilla sugar
Italian Meringue:
2 Egg whites
0,5 dl Water
1,5 dl Sugar
Custard:
Mix the egg yolks, flour and sugar in a bowl.
Bring the milk and vanilla to a boil, then gently pour over the egg mixture while whisking.
Then pour everything back in the saucepan and slowly heat ut while stirring until the custard has become thick and nice. Just be careful not heating it to fast or you will get eggy clumps in it.
Berry Jam:
Just heat the berries in the microwave and add some vanilla sugar to taste
Italian Meringue:
In a saucepan, mix the water and suger and heat until the sugar has dissolved, then bring to a boil.
In the meantime, wish the egg whites until the whites are almost able to hols soft peaks.
then slowly drizzle the hot syrup to the egg whites while whisking.
Keep whisking until the meringue has cooled down. Done.
